Stink Farm vs. Liar's Dice vs. Exploding Kittens: What's the Difference?

These three games get compared a lot because they all sit in the same “family game night” space, but they play very differently.

Liar's Dice

Pure bluffing, pure probability. Everyone rolls dice under a cup, and players bid on how many of a given number exist across all the hidden dice. No cards, no theme, no player powers — just nerve and math. Great for adults who like a clean, abstract bluffing challenge; less engaging for younger kids who want something to look at and hold.

Exploding Kittens

A push-your-luck card game, not really a bluffing game. Players draw cards hoping not to pull an “exploding kitten” and use action cards to skip turns or peek at the deck. There's some light social deduction, but almost no bluffing mechanic — you're not deceiving anyone about what you're holding.

Stink Farm

Keeps the classic BS-style bluffing mechanic at its core — play a card face-down, declare what it is, and dare someone to call “Cow Pie!” on you — but adds action cards (Barn Burner, Stink Sniffer, Bale Blocker, Farmer Favor, and more) that let you attack, defend, and swing momentum mid-round.

Bottom Line

If you want pure bluffing with no fuss, Liar's Dice is great. If you want a light, silly push-your-luck game, Exploding Kittens delivers. If you want the psychology of bluffing and the tactical back-and-forth of card powers, wrapped in a theme kids love — that's Stink Farm's lane.
